Elvis Concert Flyer and Gold Record
This is pretty cool. It features Elvis’ pictures, a concert flyer and a gold record.
The text on this says:
Elvis Presley was born January 8th, 1935 in Yupelo MS and died on August 16th, 1977 in Memphis, TN. He astonished the white culture of the American 50s with his overt sexuality and synthesis of the hopped-up hillbilly music spot welded to the most African American of Blues sources. Preachers rallied against it, parents hated it, teenage boys emulated it and girls went wild in ecstacy over it. It took the world by storm and while his visual and musical styles had their cultural antecedents in Hollywood and the Mississippi Delta, no one had ever seen anything like him before. It started in 1953 when a 19 year old entered Sam Phillips Sun Studios to cut a disc for his mother. By 1955, after no commercial success of major consequence, virtually every label of standing was bidding for his services. The rest was the beginning of the career of “the King” of Rock and Roll.
The gold single record included in this frame is the song You’ll Think of Me by Elvis for RCA records. Not sure what year that was in.
